The inspiration for No-Slip Bags
Came from seeing oversized trash bags
with knots tied in them at hotels and
convention centers during business trips.
Despite the knots, the bags would often still slip down.
The Problem with Tying Knots
When you tie a knot with the bag already
in the can, the knot tightens before the bag’s
opening is securely tightened around the can.
From personal experience, I knew the only way
to get a truly tight fit was to tie the knot at just the
right spot before inserting the bag into the can.
Even after doing this many times at home,
it’s still a hit-or-miss method.
Too much slack, and the bag tears
when you stretch it over the can.
Too little, and the bag slips down.
That’s why nearly every trash bag I’ve seen
at hotels and convention centers looked the
same—oversized with a loose knot that
lets the bag slip as the trash can fills.
Hotel cleaning staff face the same issue.
Tying the knot after the bag is in the can
is less risky for ripping, but it’s impossible
to get the opening tight around the can
using this method.
The knot always tightens before the bag is secure.
The bag is much larger than needed to line the can, and the Knot is loose, so the bag can still slip down as the trash can is filled.
The Inspiration Behind No-Slip Bags
I could imagine many solutions, but they all vanished
when I considered the practicalities of manufacturing them.
Then, one idea stuck.
As a small business owner with experience manufacturing
patented products, I knew I wouldn’t pursue a patent
unless the idea passed these criteria:
-
-
-
-
Does it work better than the current method?
-
Is it easy for anyone to do?
-
Can it be made using existing technology?
-
Is it cost-effective, adding minimal or no extra cost per bag?
-
-
-
The answer to all these questions was yes,
which is why I pursued the patent for No-Slip Bags.
No-Slip Trash Bags will save time, look better and
help keep your trash cans cleaner and more sanitary.
